After a oneweek hiatus which I can only imagine was due to some sort of extended hangover
or similar issue, I’d like to make it up to you with hooking as many sick tracks and mixes as I can
think of today. Once in a while, I’ll be posting about a particular label I’ve been vibing with, and
today, I’m doing that with Solid State Records.
(THROWBACK, SKIP IF NOSTALGIA’S NOT FOR YOU)
Solid State is PanPot’s own label, and they’ve been putting out nothing but the finest techno
since its inception. Below is a throwback EP from them as well, a classic almost a year old that
feels like its been huge for years, and which I was reminded of today thanks to an EP and I only
just heard after a month of being out, which I’ll go into detail about soon enough. Hinz &
Rummhardt’s Panther EP, with Panther and of course, Doch, which was bigupped and played
by everyone from Capriatti to your neighborhood resident DJ.
On the newer side of things, some serious techheat coming from the infallible combination of
Stephan Hinz and three different collaborators: PanPot, Phillip Rummhardt, and Clint Stewart
With his signature thick and driving basslines and minimal yet sophisticated melodies, Master
Hinz delivers a very solid EP off of Solid State Records. Each of the tracks feels quite unique in
the EP, given the sophistication of the sound these collaborators work with. Particularly good for
me was the simpleyetelegant ‘Hak’, the newest of a line of amazing collaborations between
the title producer and Phillip Rummhardt.
Finally, believe it or not, I also like chill melodies and relaxing electronic music once in a while,
and this Clint Stewart EP proves how you can provide me with that without being a cheesy
moron. I really appreciate versatility in a label of the sort that allows tracks like Doch to be in the
same family as the following tracks. I could talk this one up all day, so I’ll just let you enjoy it
